Again using the excellent mass transit system in Lyon, we made our way with our carry-ons (our only luggage for the trip) to the Lyon airport where we bumped into Wayne, Janet and Jake - just arrived from the US - tired and hungry. We eventually found our tour group (I'm still wondering why the leaders don't show up a few minutes early to make sure that we know that we're all in the right place) and headed off to the buses.
An hour and a half later we pulled into Grenoble, found our hotel rooms and headed out to the plaza for a drink, watched the tour for a bit on TV, did some exploring and took some pictures.Upon arrival back at the hotel we find Debbie, our Swiss/Czech exchange student, waiting for us in the lobby after having driven all the way in from Zurich. She had been frantically trying to get in touch with us via all the contacts she had, including Tasha in Colorado. (With the cost of downloading data in Europe we had Elane's smartphone in airplane mode since we left Chicago.) We had a great reunion, had dinner together along with the rest of the group and were able to catch up on everything that wasn't on Facebook. What a marvelous surprise and joyous way to pass our first evening in Grenoble.
